My Friday's Fancies (Beachy Chic)

It's Friday!!   This week SUCKED at work for me so...Hooray!!

Linking up with AV from Long Distance Loving for...

june 29th - beachy chic

I think this outfit would be great for the beach (with a bikini underneath!) and then still be versatile enough for a summertime dinner out, or a summer evening walk.  And I could fit my Kindle, sunscreen, etc in the TOO CUTE bag.  :-)

Spring Pop of Spring

I hope everyone else is happy to see Friday, too.   Have a GREAT weekend!

Seriously.... Can you die of cuteness overload?

I am really looking forward to seeing this movie!!
1) I love Scottish accents.  2) The girl is too cute.
AND 3) My favorite Roman soldier, Kevin McKidd, is voicing Lord MacGuffin!
Maybe we will hit the drive in again!

Yummy yum yum.  That's all I have to say.

LOVE this! World Market (yes, again)

Map wall!?!  I need this!

Yes please, "roughing it" in Utah

Funny (sort of?) because it's true... I should just use this as my signature at work.

Weekend Instagram (quick) Recap

Well the Pismo trip was... EXTREMELY windy and sandy, but a whole lot better than being at work! I must admit, there were a few moments I was wishing I had stayed home, but overall I enjoyed spending time with the BF and the drive up there and back was actually pretty enjoyable, too.

This is me, in the back seat with our crap! Passing through Malibu (probably).

This is Lake Cachuma on the way north.  Drive by photo taking at it's best. I like how the edges are artistically blurred. I totally did that on purpose.

This was what I posted on Instagram right when we arrived in Pismo.  Not a bad view. Not bad at all... (This was before the full impact of the sand hit me!)

When we got home I found our garden had started popping out a few flowers!
This one should be opening by tomorrow, I am guessing.  I wonder what color it is going to be!

This one is probably opening now!  Darker purple.

This was the first one to bloom in all it's glory!  Love the color.  BRIGHT magenta.

And our little tomato... it's growing!

(About a week ago, for a blurry comparison.)

I have more beach and sand and sun pics, which I'm trying to put together for later in the week.  Hope everyone else had a lovely weekend as well!

Heading out to Pismo

Amaze-balls! I was invited by my space cadet BF (he's sweet and means well, but is not very "thoughtful" usually...which I am totally used to and don't USUALLY mind) to go with him, his brother, and some of their rowdy gang, to Pismo Beach this weekend.
They go every year for his brother's bday.  I think because I was slightly annoyed by not being invited fishing last month, he thought to invite me. I thought it was really sweet of him, even though it may not be MY favorite thing to spend a weekend doing.  It will be nice to spend time together. It means taking 2 days off work, which is tough for me to do (especially with such short notice) but I am just gonna do it!

Anyhow..............
The great thing about Pismo is that it is a beachfront camping and OHV (off highway vehicle) riding area.  So it's the beach and camping and riding all rolled into one.  The only negative I can foresee is the sand.  But hey, we'll deal with it.

We're leaving Thursday morning and returning Sunday afternoon.
Below are a few pics from their trip last year...  This one is driving in to find a spot.  Waves to the right and lots and lots of sand behind!

2011 Pismo trip

This is a picture of their "camp" last year.  There are no fire pits or boundaries or anything to dictate where to camp so... you just stake a claim in the sand and start unpacking!
2011 Pismo trip

I'm looking forward to a few days of relaxing with no TV, phone, laptop, or work!  I'll have my iPod, my Kindle, and (hopefully) hours of looking at views like this.
My pic from near Pismo/Central CA Coast last summer

And sunsets like this...

And maybe an evening in town with my BF....

We'll see what ends up happening.  I'm just glad I won't be at work for four days!
I hope every one of you enjoys your weekend, too!  :-)

Oh, How Pinteresting! and (Mostly) Wordless Wednesday (CAMPING EDITION!)

Happy Wednesday to all!
(I might be extra happy since it is my "Friday"!!)
This is my 7th time linking up with Michelle...

We're leaving Thursday morning for Pismo beach,
4 days/3 nights of beach camping.  Hooray!
With this in mind, I've been combing Pinterest for quick and easy (and, of course, delicious!) camping recipes.  There are so many good ideas!
I've been gravitating toward things I remember making and eating way back in my Girl Scout days. It's been years since I have thought of some of the food ideas.

Unfortunately it's not gonna look like this when we arrive....haha

Even though I feel a little stressed prior to leaving for a camping trip (and taking off work) (don't want to forget anything!), once we arrive, I always relax right away.  It's such a great way to unwind, take in some calming nature, and spend time with people you enjoy.

I've found waaaay too many options for food,
but I hope we can cook up at least 2 or 3 of these while we are in Pismo.
I plan to cook every single thing in foil.
Less dishes and less cooking implements required. :-)

Breakfast...
"Idaho Sunrise"... I like this idea!  Egg, some bacon, cheese, maybe some scallions? Cooked inside a hollowed out baked potato.

 Lunch....
Ham and cheese pull apart sandwiches.

OR... Potatoes with onion and bacon between the slices,
foil wrapped and cooked on coals.

Dinner....
Meatball onion bombs...prepare before leaving. I've read it's like a mini meatloaf.

or...Pizza Cones.  (this pic is mouth watering) Might be too difficult with wind and sand.

or... Hobo Packs!  Used to make these at Girl Scout camp.
(meat, veggies, and some sauce or spices, cooked in foil)

And for dessert....
Banana S'Mores!  Chocolate chips (or peanut butter or butterscotch, or all of them!), mini marshmellows, some graham cracker crumbles...put the banana peel back in place, wrap in foil...O.M.G.

or...the Camp Cone!  Waffle cone stuffed with chocolate chips (or PB chips, or butterscotch chips!), nuts, mini marshmellows, etc.  Nom Nom Nom!

Yep, I think I'll be gaining a few pounds on this trip!
